Optimum comfort
With floor heating
it is possible to lower
the room temperature with 2-3 ºC and still maintain a pleasant
indoor environment. Your wellbeing is at it's best when the temperature
is 24-25 ºC under your feet and around 18 ºC at chest height.
With underfloor
heating it is what you achieve. Another advantage is the
lowered amount of dust and particles in the air resulting from less air
circulation. Respiratory problems - dust allergy will diminish.
Energy Savings
By substantially
lowering the room
temperature without loosing comfort the energy consumption goes
down. However a prerequisite is that the sub floor is properly
insulated. The self regulation will have the effect that heat
is generated and delivered where it is most needed. The heating mat is
also equipped with a foamed plastic insulation. Since the heat source
is in direct contact with the surface flooring the heat is directed
upwards and not downwards. This will in turn result in a lowered energy
consumption. The system will have a low thermal inertia - the time to
heat the floor will be short. This allows for the use of a programmable
thermostat with lowered temperature settings during night and also
during the hours of day when nobody is at home. It is difficult
to give a precise estimate how much you can lower the energy costs
using IntelliOhm's Floor Heating. A rule of thumb is the energy saving
is up to 15 - 20 % in comparison with radiators.

Cold Feet
With wall mounted
radiators the heat accumulates under the ceiling. Hot air goes upwards.
The air circulation in the room warms the walls and the ceiling. The
floor will become the coldest part of the room. The air circulation
will also increase the amount of dust and particles in the air.

Thermostat
Molded Heating AB offers
a LCD flush mounting thermostat for electrical floor heating
with on/off switch 12 Amp. Can be delivered with different frames.
Programmable model with a 2-pole switch. Led for heating. Possibility
to regulate either the floor or the room temperature, or combined (in
that case, the floor sensor is used as temperature limiter). Setting
temperature: 5°C to 30°C. Output: 250 V/13 A. Dead zone: 0,6°K.
Protection class: IP30.
